My Core Community Priorities

As a Community, Let us Rise, Let us Stand Together, and Let is achieve Greatness!

Cariboo needs leadership that is grounded in experience, guided by compassion, and driven by solutions. Clinton Emslie, a  proven community champion, is ready to lead Cariboo into a future that is not only economically resilient but also fair, inclusive, and united.

The Cariboo community has always been a beacon of prosperity, of community, of vibrancy.  In modern times we have drifted apart, division driving a wedge into progress, economic downturns affecting our economy, and when the pandemic tested us, it threw our economy into a tailspin, affecting jobs, lives and people, who are still struggling post pandemic to pick up the pieces and rebuild.  And now we face new challenges out of our control, compounding an already challenging situation.

Our region is facing an economic landslide. The escalating tariff wars are hitting our timber industry hard—an industry that’s the backbone of Northern BC. When forestry suffers, every industry feels the ripple effects. Jobs are lost. Businesses struggle. Small towns weaken. This is not just a regional concern—it’s a national issue. An attack on our timber economy is an attack on every resident who depends on it for stability and survival.

On top of that, families are being stretched to the brink by the cost of living crisis. From fuel to groceries to housing, everyday essentials are becoming harder to afford. It’s clear: we need bold, compassionate leadership focused on real, immediate solutions.

That’s why behind my passions, my drive, I will be working with, standing with and fighting for our communities, on the following critical areas, to formalize plans, proposals and solutions that we can take to government, that we can work towards solving, and improving the lives of every person in our communities:

Protecting the Forestry Sector – Standing up to unfair trade practices and supporting sustainable industry development.
Addressing the Cost of Living Crisis – Delivering practical relief for working families while ensuring long-term affordability in housing, energy, and food.
Boosting Tourism Development – Investing in our natural beauty, cultural heritage, and small businesses to make Cariboo–Prince George a premier destination and economic driver.
Strengthening Healthcare Access– Ensuring rural and remote communities get the care, staffing, and resources they deserve.
Building Resilient Communities – From wildfire preparedness to mental health services, we will protect and strengthen our region.
Creating Good Local Jobs – With a focus on clean energy, infrastructure, and economic diversification.

But none of this is possible without unity, without strength.

Our power lies in standing together—as Canadians, as neighbors, as builders of our shared future. We have the expertise, the empathy, and the energy to take Cariboo–Prince George—forward.

The time for bold leadership is now. Let’s protect what we love. Let’s build what we need. Let’s rise together.

BOLD PLANS FOR CARIBOO-PRINCE GEORGE

In Cariboo–Prince George, we know the meaning of strength. We know what it’s like to weather storms—both literal and figurative. From industry downturns to rising living costs, from addiction and healthcare crises to threats to our environment, our people have stood tall. But standing tall isn’t enough anymore. It’s time to stand together. It’s time to build communities that don’t just survive, but thrive.

I have a bold, connected vision for our region, here are the links to my plans:
